Time: 2009 Sep 07 19:30 - 21:00 Language: In Hebrew/English/German/Arabic with appropriate English subtitles. Summary: MOVIE NIGHT SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER 2009 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2009. 7:30 p.m. 19th floor. WALTZ WITH BASHIR. Israel/Germany/France, 2008. 90 minutes. Director: Ari Folman Voices: Ron Ben-Yishai, Ronni Dayag, Ari Folman, Dror Harazi Description: Brilliant, moving and animated (three words not usually seen together), WALTZ is an Oscar-nominated documentary that uses animation to examine the moral toll of war. After realizing that he can no longer recall his army service, an Israeli film director sets out to reconstruct his memories of what happened during Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon. Through interviews with fellow veterans-and a journey through beautifully illustrated memories, fantasies and possibilities-he is gradually able to reconstruct the moment in which he watched helplessly as thousands of refugees in Palestinian camps were massacred without any intervention. Similar to RASHOMON in its shifting viewpoints, this film is not to be missed.
