The Connecters

Hard-drivin' Jazz and Fusion

Take three of Tokyo's top jazz musicians--pianist Kaleb James, bassist Simon Koperu, and guitarist Peter Montgomery--put them together and the result is the Connecters, a case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.  A self-taught musician from a musical family, Kaleb James started out imitating the music he heard on his parents' records, the radio and TV. He was later immersed in the multi-genre influences of the plethora of bands making music in the basements, garages and backyards of Queens, New York City. Performing professionally since age 14, Kaleb has worked with a who's who of top contemporary musicians in both the U.S. and Asia, including rocker Lenny Kravitz, Japanese singer Chara, and the Chinese soul singer Coco Lee.

Peter Montgomery, another New York City man, is no stranger to SNL regulars. Peter, too, has performed with some of the biggest names in jazz, R&B and hip-hop: Rick James, Angie Jones, Sam & Dave, Javon Jackson and Kenny Garrett to name a few.

Simon Koperu, from New Zealand, has appeared at SNL with The Sugar Tokyo Quartet. A versatile bassist, he also backs another SNL favorite, Kev Gray.

It's sure to be another not-to-be-missed Saturday Night Live. And remember: IT'S FREE. No Cover Charge. No Music Charge. You can't beat it for a Saturday night out in Tokyo.
