Beethoven's No.9 symphony is being known as the concert to be played at the end of every year in Japan. It is quite rate to have No.9 symphony in New Year. But in the world, it is customary to celebrate the big event with No.9 symphony. This year is 200th birth year of Wagner and the opening concert of Beyreuth Celebrating Theater was also No.9. No.9 was also played at Vienna Opera House at the reopening after the War. Many renowned halls chose No.9 as their opening concert.
We decided to organize the dinner concert with No9. as celebrating the beginning of 2014 hoping that this event will cheer up participants. Naturally, our club can not hold full orchestra. So we are going to enjoy piano version that was arranged by Liszt. The player is Izumi Goto. You all know her since she plays at our club concert often. Ms.Goto is undertaking in recording complete sonata by Beethoven/arranged by Liszt. It was such a timely event that she released the CD of No.9. It is rather fresh that one piano expresses everything including chorus.
