Entertainment at the FCCJ just doesn't get any better than this piano and vocal duo -- performing soul, pop and jazz.
Philip Woo has been one of the music industry's leading keyboardists since the 1970s. He is also a producer, bandleader, producer and composer. He had long stints playing with jazz-funk pioneer Roy Ayers and then with Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. He also toured and/or recorded with a who's who of top pop and jazz performers, including Patti Labelle, Roberta Flack, Grover Washington Jr., Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper. Based in Japan since 1998, he has recorded with numerous Japanese artists, including Toshinobu Kubota and Hirai Ken. He composed, arranged and produced the song "Love Me, Hold Me" for Japanese pop star Milliyah Kato's latest CD.
Philip will be joined by the vibrant young vocalist Ashton Moore, a semifinalist in the 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, considered the most prestigious jazz competition in the world. Serious music fans won't want to miss this rare opportunity to hear one of the great veteran pianists team up with an up-and-coming vocalist.
