Folk Duo featuring Irish, Scottish and Welsh Folk Music
St. Paddy's Day came and went, but you have another chance to feel the luck of the Irish at this week's Saturday Nite Live. Celtic Wind is a Kanagawa-based folk music duo comprising Paul Williams singing and playing guitar and bouzouki, and Yuko Hamamoto on flute and melodeon. Favorites at Irish pubs throughout the Tokyo area, their repertoire, naturally, focuses on songs and tunes old and new from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
A native of Cardiff, Wales, Paul Williams has been performing live for more than 30 years. Before moving to the Kanto area in 2006, Paul had lived and performed for many years in Hawaii and Hiroshima. Yuko Hamamoto hails from Tochigi, where she started playing the piano at 4 and the flute at 8. She trained in classical flute at Musashino Academia Musicae and now teaches and performs professionally both as a soloist and in ensembles. Her musical interests extend beyond the classics to traditional Japanese, jazz, Hawaiian, tango, and, of course, Celtic/Irish.
Don't forget, IT'S FREE. Never a cover or music charge. It's the best Saturday night deal in all of Yurakucho!
