The prolific film and stage music composer on his musical "Mozart" and his successful career.

"Mr. Sylvester Levay Has Agreed to Speak in English!"

Sylvester Levay, one of the world's most prolific and successful film and stage music composers will appear at the FCCJ on Thursday November 6th to talk about his musical "Mozart" which opens in Tokyo on November 8th for a run until December 24th.

He will talk about his unique experience in creating musicals for the Japanese stage and also of his extensive successes in composing hits for such globally known artists as Elton John, Donna Summer and Sister Sledge - and many more.

Created in partnership with librettist Michael Kunze, and commissioned by the Toho Group, "Mozart!" played to full houses in Tokyo four years ago and is being presented again at the Imperial Theater with a star-studded Japanese cast.

Levay is well-known in Japan's show business circles, having created for Toho such new musicals as "Marie Antoinette" and "Lady Bess", with Michael Kunze. "Marie Antoinette" had its premiere in Tokyo in 2006, "Lady Bess" premiered in Tokyo in April this year.

Award-winning Levay will additionally draw on his decades of composing for movies and television based in Hollywood, where he collaborated with such giants as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Sylvester Stallone, composing for more than 100 major productions.

Born In Serbia in 1945, Levay moved to Germany in the early 1960s and played with orchestras all over Europe. In the 1970s he established a base in Munich to work as a pianist, composer, arranger and conductor. His cooperation with Michael Kunze dates from the 1990s. Their musical, "Elisabeth" based on the life of the Empress Elisabeth, wife of Franz Josef 1st of Austria, was an international success and has been staged in eleven countries to-date.

Doors open at 14:30. Coffee, tea and cake will be served. Mr. Levay will speak (in *German/English with Japanese translation) from 15:00 – and there will be time for questions.
