"From Confucious to Ukiyoe"

The Toyo Bunko - or Oriental Library – a museum well known for its collection of valuable Japanese and Oriental books, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year with a special exhibit featuring ancient Chinese and Edo Period art materials.

The museum was established as an Oriental study research library by Mr. Hisaya Iwasaki, third president of the Mitsubishi Corporation, in November 1924.
Mr. Iwasaki donated land and operating funds as well as his own collection of the Iwasaki Library which has been expanded by the collection of national treasures and one million books.

Admission usually costs Yen 900 but FCCJ members' price is Yen 450 per person and a special lunch is offered at Yen 2,000. The total fee is Yen 2,450.
Please note young persons under 18 years old are not allowed to enter the ukiyo-e display room as some exhibits include "shunga," or erotic prints.

Please assemble in the lobby of the Toyo Bunko Museum at 10:30 (2-28-21 Honkomagome, Bunkyo-ku)

* 11:00-12:00 Museum tour
* 12:00-13:15 Lunch at Orient Cafe

To reserve, either telephone the front desk (03-3211-3161) or reserve online. Participants are limited to 20 on a first-come first-served policy.
Cancellations made after 6 p.m. on December 8th or no-shows will be charged a registration fee of Yen 1,000.

東洋文庫創立90周年記念岩崎コレクション
"孔子から浮世絵まで"

2014年12月14日(日)

三菱三代目社長岩崎久彌氏によって1924年に創立された東洋学の専門図書館が創立90周年を記念して所蔵の名品を一挙に公開いたします。
国宝、重要文化財を含む古写本から浮世絵までこの機会に学芸員の解説を聞きながらお楽しみください。FCCJ会員のご協力により入館料は半額の450円。特別ランチは2,000円で提供されます。(会費合計2,450円)
なお、18歳以下は春画を含むため浮世絵展示室には入場できません。12月8日午後6時以降のキャンセルとノーショウは登録料1,000円のチャージとなります。
