Lingam-san

Memorial for Vellayappa Chokalingham will be held on November 15th from 5:30pm at the FCCJ. We welcome relatives and friends to commemorate his life and raise a toast to one of the oldest and respected members of the FCCJ.

Known as Chuck to Club members, Lingam was born in November 1914 and joined the Club half a century ago in 1965. Indeed, remembering Chuck is like remembering the long years of existence of the FCCJ and its proud heritage.

Chuck was born to a South Indian merchant family that had business interests in Malay and Singapore. After completing his school education in Singapore, he sailed for Japan with the dream of becoming an engineer specializing in power generation. He arrived in Nagasaki in 1935 and stayed since. The FCCJ was one of his favourite haunts as he established his life in Japan.

Please join us for this special commemoration.

Canapes on the house will be served and only drinks will be charged. Members planning to attend are kindly asked to inform the reception desk (03-3211-3161) so the Club staff can make appropriate preparations.

Suvendrini Kakuchi
President
