The FCCJ is happy to welcome back Ian Bremmer, a frequent visitor to Japan and to our Club, to discuss his take on the state of the world as we approach the end of another turbulent year, and to share with us insights from his forthcoming book, “The Age of Geo-Economics."

Joining Bremmer at the head table will be Takashi Mitachi, co-author of the book and co-chairman of the Japan office of the Boston Consulting Group.

Bremmer launched Eurasia Group in 1998 to leverage his knowledge of the political dynamics in the newly emerging post-Soviet republics. In recent weeks, he has been a sought-after commentator on the complex and fast-breaking events in the Syrian conflict, and the escalating threat to stability and security posed by Islamic State.

He earned a PhD in political science from Stanford University in 1994 and was the youngest-ever national fellow at the Hoover Institution. Dr. Bremmer has published 10 books, including the most recent "Superpower: Three Choices for America’s Role in the World."

Takashi Mitachi was a member of BCG’s Worldwide Executive Committee until 2013. Prior to joining BCG in 1993, he worked for JAL for 14 years. He has been the Vice Chairman of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives and the Chairman of its Committee for Tourism Development Strategy, a member of the World Economic Forum’s General Agenda Council on Geo-economics. He holds a Master of Business Administration with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in American literature from the University of Kyoto.
