 Dr. Riad Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Palestinian National Authority, will address the Club on the current Palestinian situation in time when the peace process seems to have reached a dead end, Malki is accompanying President Mahmoud Abbas who will be visiting Japan from 14 to 16 February.

 The situation in the region is increasingly unstable, while the living and humanitarian conditions in the Palestinian territories are getting worse as Israel continues to occupy Palestinian lands and expand its settlements. Malki will meet the Japanese officials to discuss Japan's support for the Palestinians.

 Malki served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, in addition to Minister of Information and Official Spokesman of the Government, from September 2007 to June 2009. He was reappointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs in May 2009.

 A civil engineer and a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Malki was a professor at Birzeit University, Ramallah for 15 years. In 1991 he founded Panorama (Palestinian Center for the Dissemination of Democracy and Community Development) and was its representative until 2007.
