Jazz standards and pops.

A "King Cake Baby" is a small toy baby figure that is hidden inside the traditional "King Cakes" in New Orleans during the famous Madri Gras celbreations. The person who finds a King Cake Baby in their cake is believed to gain luck and prosperity, and is King or Queen for the Day!

The FCCJ gets lucky when Samm Bennett, known to many as the musical pertner of Steve Gardner, introduces his own project – King Cake Baby, a band with a mission : to bring a little of that rolling, tumbling, bouncing and rollicking New Orleans music to Tokyo audiences. Their repertoire features standards and favorites made famous by New Orleans music legends such as Dr. John, James Booker, Professor Longhair, Heuy "Piano" Smith and others, plus adaptations of Mardi Gras Indian tunes by troupes such as the Wild Tchoupitoulas and Wild Magnolias. Not to mention their own original music with a distinctly New Orleans flavor. You just can't help but get with it!
King Cake Baby features Samm Bennett on drums & vocals, Matt G on Piano, Huw Lloyd on Clarinet, and Hisayuki Nakase on bass.
