Vocal / Piano & Violin Duo

Rié FURUSE, the Japanese singer/pianist-songwriter, who has spent the last decade living in her adopted home of Paris, has finally found her true identity within her bi-cultural world. Through the musical expression of her creations Rié shares the essential essence of “Nipponese-Parisian” jazz in her recent album “Semba”.
She loved to sing and play the piano and her parents enrolled her in music lessons at the early age of three. Later, studying French literature at Dokkyo University, she discovered jazz and was immediately hooked by the music, so she decided to sing after school in several jazz clubs in Tokyo.
Rié found her path after meeting with Diva Gray, former vocalist of "Chic" who shared her musical experience, American music (Pop, Gospel and Funk), which helped her to embark on an international career.
In 2010, during the festival of 48 Hour Film Project Awards in Ho Chi Minh, Rié received “The Best Music Award” for one of her songs “The One” [Rié FURUSE & Chris Mosdell] which was featured as the soundtrack for the movie.

Utaco Ichise, the Japanese violinist based in Paris is joining Rie for this special live!

And remember, it’s free. No cover charge. No music charge. You just can’t beat SNL for an exciting, entertaining night out in Tokyo.
