"TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION"

-The biggest fashion and entertainment show in Japan-

Celebrating the arrival of spring in style, the FCCJ welcomes the organizers of Tokyo Girls Collection, a semiannual fashion festival that has attracted as many as over 30,000 people to an arena each time since 2005 and wowed the world as part of the Cool Japan package.

Junnosuke Isshiki, senior vice president of W TOKYO Inc., which manages what it calls the "biggest fashion and entertainment show in Japan," is to explain how Japanese products and content can leverage Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) in accelerating their expansion overseas. The show has also taken place in several cities abroad including Beijing.

TGC was launched with the aim of promoting Japanese girls' culture to the world. One of its founders told Bloomberg in 2015, "Now we can increase the power of our fashion shows and associated events." It typically features models, singers and celebrities parading the latest Japanese "real clothes" streetwear for young women in conjunction with live music and entertainment. The event is streamed live online, sparking millions of tweets and numerous YouTube posts, while spectators can order the paraded clothes by smartphone instantly.

The Spring-Summer 2019 show will be held at Yokohama Arena in the port city south of Tokyo on March 30, presenting 17 brands such as Cecil McBee, WEGO and KANGOL.

A graduate of Tokyo University with a master's degree in agricultural and life sciences, Isshiki worked at P&G in Japan and Singapore before specializing in event planning, promotion and management since 2013 with a focus on Japanese girls' culture.
