James Stern, Former Executive Vice President of Corporate

Security and Investigations, Wynn Resorts and Former FBI agent

Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.

"Casinos, Yakuza and Challenges Facing Japan's IR Resorts"

James Stern, retired FBI Special Agent and former chief of security at Wynn Resorts, will discuss his career and dealing with the yakuza and casino security, and also highlight the challenges facing Japan's IR Resorts as Japan goes forward with legalized gambling. Stern now heads Global Gaming and Resort Security (GGRS) LLC. During FBI days, Stern masterminded the undercover operation Tropical Storm, which resulted in the only successful capture of a yakuza boss on US soil.

Stern has a long history of working with Japanese law enforcement and has unique insight into how the law and outlaws work on both sides of the fence.

Stern is familiar with the Yamaguchi-gumi Go-ryokai's laundering of yakuza funds in Las Vegas casinos circa 2002-2004 and spent over a decade keeping antisocial forces out of Wynn Resorts in his role as a security executive. He has doubts as to whether Japanese and/or US firms are adequately prepared to resist infiltration from organized crime in Japan. He will discuss his past cases and casino security in general during his press conference. He will be happy to take other questions on what casinos need to do to be successful in Japan.
