Saturday Lunch with Shakespeare HENRY VI (Sixth) Part Two (price update as of Oct.1st)

Shakespeare's early Henry VI (Sixth) trilogy established the young playwright's popularity. Part Two covers the break-down of order in England as political rivals exploit an immature king, Henry VI, who inherited the throne after the untimely death of his iconic father Henry V.

The BBC Series provides a rare opportunity to see the plays performed in full, as opposed to heavily edited for stage, TV and movies. The three plays were produced by Jonathan Miller and directed by Jane Howell, whose sets won much attention for their resemblance to children's adventure playgrounds, meant to emphasize the childishness of some of the squabbles of the English aristocracy at the time.

The part of King Henry VI is played by Peter Benson.

Our presenter is long-time Japan resident Paul Snowden, professor emeritus of Waseda University , who as well as giving us the background to the play will include the foundation by Henry VI of King's College Cambridge, his alma mater.

Tickets including lunch are 3,100 Yen per person. A cash bar is available. Cancellations after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, will be charged in full. Please make reservations through the Front Desk (03-3211-3161).

Lunch is served promptly from 12:00. Coffee and dessert will be served in the intermission. The program will end at about 4.30 p.m.
