Learn About the FCCJ Move
Are you concerned about the Club Move which may occur in the summer of 2018? Do you feel you don't know enough about what is going on? Do you have a message that you want to send to the Board of Directors as the process moves forward?
On Thursday, May 22, we are offering our members their best chance to be brought up to date and to understand the current situation and future prospects of the Club Move project. On that date we will be conducting two related events: A Town Hall meeting in the evening to discuss the plan, and a Marunouchi Area Tour with our landlord Mitsubishi Estate in the afternoon. Other opportunities will follow, but we hope that many people will make use of this event.
Club Move Town Hall
May 22, 2014
In the evening we will offer a chance for all interested members to hear about the interim results of our long and difficult negotiations; how the new and possibly bigger club could look like, and what it would offer for the members. This will be a key opportunity for the General Membership to communicate its thoughts and concerns to the Board of Directors as we are entering the crucial phase of the negotiations.
The next 45 days will decide if we are "in" or "out." The legally-binding contract is scheduled to be signed immediately after the June General Membership Meeting by the incoming Board of Directors. And there are a lot of issues that go beyond the move, but closely related, like the decline in membership numbers, a better professional program, and -- of course -- financial issues.
If you have something to say, or simply want to hear what others are saying, we strongly urge you to come and participate in this crucial Town Hall event.
Marunouchi Area Tour
May 22, 2014
If we enter the arrangement we are now considering, the FCCJ will become a sort of partner of the Marunouchi area. We are currently discussing the possibilities. Needless to say, the principle of FCCJ independence and neutrality will absolutely be ensured.
The main form of help Mitsubishi Estate wants from the FCCJ is for us to integrate more tightly into the Otemachi-Marunouchi-Yurakucho community (called "Daimaruyu" in its shortened Japanese version) that consists of all the landlords in this area. This will involve displaying the word "Marunouchi" at our post-2018 press events.
What the FCCJ would get out of the arrangement is remarkably favorable financial terms to help us make the move to the new facilities, as well as the Marunouchi area's continuing support to help us maintain and expand our member services.
The integration with the Daimaruyu community would also certainly play a major role in bringing new members to the Club and strengthen our ability to interact with the businesses and other organizations in our local neighborhood.
Want to know more? Mitsubishi Estate has agreed to give 30 Members a two hour orientation and tour to let us know better about the community with which we might link ourselves. Please call the Front Desk to sign up: 03-3211-3161.
