Yasumi Taku and Friends is a quartet of Japanese musicians that performs Jazz standards and pops with a relaxed attitude.
Group leader Taku Yasumi started playing jazz piano while studying at the University of Minnesota, where he had the good fortune to play with the likes of Curtis Fuller and some of the Woody Herman band’s members. He balances his love of jazz with a full-time day job. Kyoto-born vocalist Aya Izumi escaped from her job as an OL to concentrate on singing. After establishing herself on the Kansai live house circuit, 4 years ago she decided to take on the challenge of making it in the Big Mikan. She sings regularly at the Ginza Kizoku. Yoshinobu Nakamura, on drums, and bassist Toshiyuki Kodaka fill out the group.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear a home-grown jazz group show their stuff at SNL.
And you can't beat the price. No Cover Charge. No Music Charge. We don't even pass a hat. Just relax with a few drinks and snacks and enjoy the music at the FCCJ's Saturday Nite Live.
