"The Future of Hong Kong"

Last week the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of Chinagave its approval to a new national security law for Hong kong that if formally adopted threatens to shatter the one country, two systemsframework that has maintained the precarious freedoms in place since 1997 in this semi-autonomous city .

This coming Thursday 4th June marks the 31st anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. Theannual vigil marking the anniversary in Hong Kong has been banned for the first time in history.

Pro-democracy activists Joshua Wong and Agnes Chow will speak in an online news conference alongside Au Nok-hin, a former lawmaker in the city's legislature who was arrested in a police round up last month.

With the city's future on the line, and fears growing that Beijing's grip on Hong Kong is tightening, the three speakers will have much to say about the city's future.
