From the Editor

by Justin McCurry

The katakana title above the entrance to the Yurakucho Denki Building is proof that, perhaps, it is time for us to move on.

The character for ji in birujingu is considered outdated (rather like the romaji Huzi-san rendering of Mt. Fuji). I have similar feelings about our club’s home for the past 30 years. The practical and financial obstacles to moving to a new location are almost too big to contemplate, but that hasn’t stopped several members privately debating the merits of staying on in our cramped surroundings while investing in ad-hoc refurbishments.

This month Henry Scott Stokes brings the issue into the public realm. Anyone with a view on the club’s long-term future are urged to get in touch and move the debate forward in the pages of their in-house journal.

As always I am keen to hear from anyone who is interested in writing or taking photographs for the magazine. Feel free to email me at justin.mccurry@guardian.co.uk
