Australian Rape Victim's Verdict Due Soon

　"Jane", an Australian woman who was raped by a U.S. Navy sailor in April 2002, is awaiting a court decision, scheduled to be announced December 10th, in her case against the Kanagawa Police for their alleged mistreatment when she sought their protection after the incident, in what she calls a "second rape" against her.

Earlier this year, Jane finally found the U.S. military serviceman in question, who had already left the country, and she is still waiting for a response from the U.S. government on how it plans to handle the case.

She will be joined by Mr. Shoji Niihara, an expert on Japan-US relations, Mr. Masanori Yamazaki, whose wife was robbed and murdered by a U.S. sailor in 2006, and Mr. Kazuhira Usami, who is working with the support group for Mr. Yamazaki.
