Art Brown,
Former CIA National Intelligence Officer for East Asia

Language:

The speech and Q & A will be in English.

Description:

Arthur Brown is a former National Intelligence Officer for East Asia of the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). During his quarter-century at the agency, Brown served as station chief in three cities in the region. He left the CIA in 2005, opposed to the misuse of intelligence after 9/11 and in the lead up to the Iraq war.

Following a popular FCCJ luncheon talk by Brown in September, in which he discussed a wide range of topics from North Korea's nuclear activities to reforming America's intelligence community, he is invited back to the club to focus on the issue of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean intelligence agents. However, he is open to answering questions on other topics as well.

Prior to joining the CIA, Brown was a journalist, and taught at a small school in rural Japan. Brown earned a degree in Japanese language studies from San Francisco State University and studied Japanese literature at Kumamoto National University in Kyushu. He is currently the principal of a small consultancy based in Virginia.

Please join us for a Professional Luncheon in which Brown will explain where the controversial issue of Japanese abductees is headed, as well as a panoply of other subjects.

Sandwich Plate: Smoked salmon, avocado & mizuna tortilla wrap with sun dried tomato cream cheese & pickles.
Hot Plate: Herb-marinated baked half-chicken, roast potatoes, spinach, seasonal salad & bread.
