In 2003, Korean-American Mike Kim gave up his financial planning business in Chicago, bought a one-way ticket to the Chinese side of the North Korea border and founded Crossing Borders, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to North Korean refugees. Operating under the cover of a student of North Korean taekwondo, he became involved with some of the hundreds of thousands of North Koreans fleeing into or through China in search of food, freedom or both -- experiences that culminated in his new book, "Escaping North Korea."

Join us as Kim chronicles his effort to lead refugees through a 6,000-mile, latter-day underground railway and exposes day-to-day realities of famine, religious oppression, torture and sexual abuse in North Korea.
