Paul Fleisher and
The Tokyo Jazz Essentials
Jazz

Description:

"Cool, smooth and blue" is how tenor saxophonist Paul Fleisher describes his brand of jazz. A native New Yorker, Fleisher graduated from New York's famed High School of Music and Art and the Manhattan School of Music. He has been in the pit for such Broadway shows such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and has toured and recorded with the likes of John Mayall, the Doobie Brothers, Lou Reed, and David Bromberg. Swing Journal complimented Fleisher for his "warm, rich sound," which you can hear on his just-released CD "That Bridge" with Kenny Barron on piano, Bob Cranshaw playing bass, and Al Foster on drums.

Now based in Osaka, Fleischer fronts the Tokyo Jazz Essentials, with pianist Joe Kamachi, Masamichi Hosokawa on bass, and Ko Kaza hitting the drums. It will be another evening of really stellar jazz at the FCCJ's Saturday Night Live!

NO INTEREST IN LIVE MUSIC? Don't let that keep you away from your club. very Saturday night the club's Sushi Bar is magically transformed into the legendary Shimbun Alley Bar for those who prefer a quiet, cozy atmosphere that still provides the FCCJ's friendly service and great food and drink.
