Photo Exhibition by Everett Kennedy Brown
Summary:
Nihon-Ryoku (Main Bar and Sushi Bar)
Saturday, November 28 to Friday, January 15
This exhibition commemorates the publication of the book Nihon-Ryoku (Japan Power) (Parco Publishers), a collection of photographs, text and dialogues between American photojournalist Everett Kennedy Brown and Seigo Matsuoka, a leading figure of contemporary Japanese cultural thought. The photographs and accompanying text in this exhibition are excerpted from the book to provide the viewer with the enjoyment of discovering the meanings born from the juxtaposition of images and words.
Nihon-Ryoku presents a dialogue between two artists and thinkers freely exploring modern day Japan, while touching upon the past and future, East and West. Their work is a quest to articulate the intrinsic nature of Japanese culture and present an integrated vision for the country's future.
