IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!

Time: 2009 Dec 19 18:30 - 21:00
Summary:

The Mike Price Quartet
JAZZ!

Description:

Jazz just doesn't get better than this. Trumpeter Mike Price returns to the FCCJ with his quartet for an evening of jazz standards and Mike's original compositions. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mike got his start in the 1960s with the Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich orchestras. He first came to Japan in the 1970s touring with the acclaimed Toshiko Akiyoshi/Lew Tabackin Big Band. Mike returned in 1989 on a United States National Endowment for the Arts exchange program and the opportunity to perform convinced him to stay on. Over the past 2 decades, Mike has become a Tokyo jazz institution, playing with small groups, backing leading jazz vocalists and leading his own big band.

This week, Mike, on trumpet and flugelhorn, will be accompanied by pianist John Pool, Mark Tourian on bass, and drummer Makoto Kadowaki. Come up to the 20th floor of the Yurakucho Denki Building and from there go into the stratosphere on the soaring sounds of the Mike Price Quartet.

NO INTEREST IN LIVE MUSIC? Don't let that keep you away from your club. Every Saturday night the club's Sushi Bar is magically transformed into the legendary Shimbun Alley Bar for those who prefer a quiet, cozy atmosphere that still provides the FCCJ's friendly service and great food and drink.
