JAN KEUCHEL was born in 1965 in Essen, Germany, as the only son among four siblings. Growing up in Wesel, a small city on the Rhine, Jan attended the University of Marburg and the University of Cologne, studying law. In 1991, he graduated as a lawyer and started working for a trade magazine for lawyers -- first as a journalist, later as editor in chief. After eight years, Jan changed to the Handelsblatt, one of the biggest business and financial daily newspapers in Germany. For the next seven years, he worked as political editor responsible for tax and law matters. In 2006, he transferred to the reporting department within the Handelsblatt, where he worked until he was assigned to Japan as correspondent in January 2010. Jan is married to a Japanese and they have one son, who is now 16 months old. He is very eager to learn more and more about Japan.

DAO THANH TUNG was born in June 1976, a year after the end of the Vietnam War. In February 1999, he started working with the Vietnam News Agency as a reporter, covering the fields of banking and the stock market. In 2003, he moved to the agency’s foreign news service and worked as a international news sub-editor. During that time, he covered major international events held in Vietnam following the initiation of the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process. These included the 2001 Southeast Asian Games, the 2004 Asia-Europe Meeting and the 2006 APEC Summit. Outside the country, he covered the 2004 ASEAN Summit in Laos. In September 2006, he took part in the FPCJ Fellowship Program sponsored by the Japanese Foreign Ministry. Two year later, he came back to Japan to serve as chief of the Vietnam News Agency's Tokyo bureau. He feels very happy to be in Japan as the country experiences major changes in its modern history. He likes playing sports like football, table tennis and badminton, listening to music and playing chess.
