Description:
The FCCJ's favorite jazz vocalist returns! Hiroko Williams got an early start in music listening to the many records her father played and the traditional Japanese songs sung by her grandmother. She started playing the electone at 5 and by 12 was singing pop, rock and soul in a school band. But she found her true love--jazz--after hearing the legendary jazz singer Anita O'Day.

Hiroko gained professional experience singing at live houses in her hometown, Shizuoka, and on TV commercials. She traveled to the UK to study English in 2000 and then relocated to Tokyo. She now performs regularly at jazz clubs throughout the Kanto area. On this trip to the club, Hiroko is bringing pianist Yogo Shindo and bassist Tadashi Sase. It will be another evening of outstanding mellow jazz from a Press Club favorite.
