IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!
Summary:
Sam Ishihara
Country & Western
Long-time SNL favorite Sam Ishihara returns to the Club, performing his inimitable versions of Country & Western classics plus his own originals. Growing up in Osaka, Sam learned Country & Western music and English listening to "The Grand Ole Opry," "The Top 20," and "Platter Parade" on the U.S. military's Far East Network. In 1979 he opened a Country music bar in Akasaka called Stonefield's which attracted a loyal following of C&W aficionados. Sam closed Stonefield's a few years back, but he's still singin' and pickin' at clubs and bars throughout Tokyo. Sam shares his encyclopedic knowledge and love of country and pop music by telling the stories behind the songs.
So for a slice of honest, cryin'-in-your-beer country music, mosey on down to the Club on September 11. Close your eyes and you'll think you're in Nashville.
