The FCCJ is Happy to host the renowned Tsugaru Shamisen artist Hiroshi Yamaguchi.

The soulful Tsugaru Shamisen music is reminiscent of the stark, hostile coast of northern Honshu especially its birthplace Aomori Prefecture, and stirs deep emotions within its listeners.

Successfully performing since four years old, in both domestic and international venues Hiroshi Yamaguchi has combined his shamisen with western instruments as well. He will be joined in a few poignant numbers by his father Koji who is a master of the Yamaguchi Tsugaru Shamisen.

Together they will entertain with the Tsugaru Jonkara Bushi, Tsugaru Yosare Bushi and other memorable songs of the popular Tsugaru genre. Hiroshi will introduce some of his most impressive as well as newer Tsugaru Shamisen melodies.

Gather with like minded aficionados for a memorable evening of the stimulating sound of the passionate Tsugaru Shamisen.

４歳で初舞台を踏み、国内外の様々な舞台で活動してきた山口ひろしによる津軽三味線のコンサートです。
演奏家である山口流津軽三味線家元山口孝次を父に持ち、青森県で本場の芸を学ぶ。その後、東京藝術大学に進み歌舞伎音楽として発展してきた長唄三味線を学ぶ。

現在は津軽三味線のソロコンサートや海外公演、洋楽器とのセッションや作曲活動等、幅広く活動している。
今回は、 「津軽じょんから節」「津軽よされ節」等、津軽を代表する曲の独奏の他、ゲストに父山口孝次を迎え、大変珍しい津軽三味線の親子共演をお楽しみいただきます。
