When Kazuo Hirai took over as president and CEO of Sony this week, he held the helm of an enterprise facing a crisis unlike anything it has experienced in its nearly 70-year history. It's been years since Sony produced a mega-hit device. Its TV business is an albatross that has accumulated losses of $10 billion. The company is on course for a fourth straight annual net loss for the year which just ended.

We have invited two engaging experts who will offer in sights on Sony’s many challenges ahead: non-fiction writer and journalist Yasunori Tateishi, and Barclays Capital managing director and consumer electronics analyst Yuji Fujimori.

Tateishi is the author of the 2011 book "Sayonara! Bokura no Sony," a no-holds-barred look at what went wrong with the iconic Sony brand, based on extensive interviews and which names and shames current and former executives and insiders. Fujimori has covered tech and consumer electronics for Barclays since 2009, and at Goldman Sachs before that. He has been ranked No. 1 among Japanese consumer electronics analysts by institutional investors for four consecutive years as well as being named the top equity sector analyst by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in 2011.
