IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!

Time: 2012 May 05 18:30 - 21:00
Summary:

Celtic Wind
Irish, Scottish and Welsh Folk Music

Description:

Celtic Wind is a folk music trio comprising Paul Williams singing and playing guitar and bouzouki, flutist Yuko Hamamoto and fiddler Akina Akahoshi. Favorites at Irish pubs throughout the Tokyo area, their repertoire, naturally, focuses on songs and tunes old and new from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

A native of Cardiff, Wales, Paul Williams has been performing live for more than 30 years. Before moving to Tokyo in 2006, Paul had lived and performed in Hawaii and Hiroshima. Yuko Hamamoto hails from Tochigi, where she started playing the piano at 4 and the flute at 8. She trained in classical flute at Musashino Academia Musicae and now teaches and performs both as a soloist and in ensembles. Her musical interests extend to traditional Japanese, jazz, Hawaiian, tango, and, of course, Irish. And Akina Akahoshi, a native of Aomori-ken, joined Celtic Wind early this year. Another music teacher, her roots are in classical music but she began pursuing a long-standing interest in Irish music recently.

Celtic Wind will be the perfect cap to the Golden Week tradition.
