The anti-nuclear documentary Hibakusha combines interviews with the victims of the current nuclear disaster with comments from those who survived the bombing of Hiroshima.
The 67-minute film (with the full title Hibakusha: From Hiroshima to Fukushima, Nuclear Capitalism tries to Rebound) is billed as an expose of Japan's infamous nuclear village.
Co-directed by filmmaker and journalist Ralph T. Niermeyer and German parliamentarian Dorothee Menzer, the film has been screened in Germany and France and will soon travel to the US and Venezuela.
It will be screened for the first time in Japan at a vital juncture in the country's preparations for a new energy policy amid rising anti-nuclear sentiment and the shutdown of all 54 of its nuclear reactors.
Come to the FCCJ on May 22nd and see a 67-minute preview of the film and ask Niermeyer about what he hopes it achieves.
