Tomoko Nozawa
Samba and Bossa Nova Vocalist
Tomoko Nozawa grew up in Tochigi Prefecture but found her heart and her voice in Brazil. She started singing jazz in the 1990s but was seduced by Brazilian music. Now her renditions of bossa nova and samba classics and originals in Portuguese and Japanese will seduce you. In 2005, she released her first CD “Encontro,” with a guest appearance by famed Brazilian guitarist Toninho Horta. "Encontro" rose into the top 10 of the HMV world music chart. She has just released her second CD, "Shiawase no Hana." For her gig at the FCCJ, Tomoko will be backed by Yoshiaki Shigehisa on piano, Noriaki Suko on guitar and percussionist Kepel Kimura. J.J. Vicars will be placing his signature guitar stylings in an intimate setting at FCCJ on July 10th. Performing solo on acoustic guitar, he's visiting his entire catalogue which spans 4 released CDs, 3 upcoming CDs and 3 side projects. Interspersed throughout the night will be several Blues and Americana numbers, a nod to his roots. In the comfy and cozy setting of the Press Club main bar the songs are stripped down to their bare essentials. J.J. has been a regular performer at FCCJ for the past six years.
