Description:

"Tokyo's Olympic Bid"

This summer, the International Olympic Committee decides the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. As one of the bid cities, Tokyo has been making domestic and international efforts of late to promote itself, and signs touting the bid can be seen not only in Old Edo but also tourist areas like Kyoto and other cities.

Public support for the bid is less enthusiastic than Ishihara would like, however, while a worsening economy has many wondering if the money wouldn't be better spent elsewhere. There are also concerns that the controversial Tokyo governor could hurt the city's chances with the IOC.

Join us as Ishihara makes his second appearance of the year at the FCCJ and discusses these issues and Tokyo's Olympic bid.
