Time: 2009 Apr 23 14:00 - 15:00
Summary:

Press Conference
Daniel Pinkston
Deputy Project Director for North East Asia,
The International Crisis Group

Language:

The speech and Q & A will be in English.

Description:

"What Next For North Korea?"

With North Korea's recent launch of a missile/rocket/satellite/unidentified object, questions about how to deal with the reclusive state have taken on a new urgency. Can America, Japan, China and other countries nudge Pyongyang back into the international community via the Six Party Talks? Or is it foolish to even try? What will happen when Kim Jong Il eventually leaves the scene, and what can the West and Japan do once that happens?

To help answer these and other questions, please join us for a briefing on North Korea by Daniel Pinkston, Deputy Project Director for North East Asia at the International Crisis Group. One of the foremost Western authorities on North Korea and East Asian security, Pinkston is a former Korean linguist for the U.S. Air Force. He is now with the International Crisis Group, a non-partisan think-tank advising governments and intergovernmental groups on policy matters.
