If you're ever going to join, THIS is the day to do it.

On June 15, FCCJ Toastmasters will be formally established as a "club-within-a-club" as members sign the charter we will submit to Toastmasters International.

Toastmastering is a learn-by-having-fun method to improve public speaking skills. In a supportive atmosphere, we learn together by giving speeches (both prepared and impromptu) and evaluating the efforts of our peers. See www.toastmasters.org

In Toastmastering it's a distinct honor to be charter member of a new club-especially one that lasts for decades. And so we will sign with a flourish and record the event for posterity with a group photo. Anyone joining later will be, of course, a valued member. But no one joining after June 15 will be a "charter member." So if you're ever going to join, this is the day to do it.

To become a charter member, you must present ¥10,000 to our Treasurer at the meeting. This includes a ¥3,000 one-time joining fee plus ¥7,000 dues for 6 months. At each session-we hope to meet two Mondays each month by September-you must order hot lunch or sandwich plate from the FCCJ kitchen.

With this payment you will receive your initial TMs' training manual and a monthly magazine from TMs International. At these rates, our club will be among the most affordable TMs clubs in Tokyo-thanks to free space from FCCJ.

For this special meeting, CTM Shuji Yoshida will be our Toastmaster of the Day. TM Doug Jackson will be our Topicmaster. Speakers will include TMs James Cole, Roslyn Hayman and one more yet to be found. Tell TM Yoshida if you'd like to volunteer for a role at the meeting by emailing shuji@faculty.chiba-u.jp
