The Jim Butler Jazz Quartet plays modern and original jazz and have put together a truly outstanding group that guarantees a night of unforgettable music. The quartet members are the incomparable Yuko Sakuma on piano, Maseo Hayashi on upright bass, Tokyo hero Uemura Keiichiro on drums, and Jim on saxophone.

Jim recently finished a 74-day tour of Africa and the Middle East with the rock and roll band "Dune". He was struck by the vivid beauty and vitality of Kenya, and several of his more recent compositions, such as "Nairobi Afternoon," reflect the impressions Africa made on him.

This month they have been playing concerts all over Tokyo-Akasaka, Asagaya, Tachikawa, Sendagi, here at the Press Club, and other places. They have recorded a new Jim Butler Quartet CD, produced by Stephen Hart (he recorded for McCoy Tyner, Dave Brubeck and many others) that was released earlier this month.
