MISO MEETS MUSIC
Summary:
Oboist ferments classic Ginjo Miso to the strains of Mozart
June 22, 2009,-Concert 6:30 p.m. dinner 7:30 p.m.
Katsuya Watanabe, a graduate of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, is the recipient of the first prize and Grand Prix of the 7th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition. After a stint with the New Japan Philharmonic, he moved to Germany as the principal in the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal, Baolisches Staatstheatar Karlsruhe, Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin and Solistes Europeens Luxembourg.
Last summer Watanabe's Mozart renditions matured the limited edition Classic Ginjo Miso of the Miyasaka Brewery which will be used to create the delicate dishes for this event.
Miso Vichyssoise, Onion Miso Quiche, Sautéed tuna with Miso Mango sauce, Stewed Loin of Pork with Orange and Miso, Penne Carbonara with Miso, and Stewed Miso Chicken with Dried Figs are just a few of the entrees with Miso Chocolate spring rolls and Miso Creme Brulee for dessert.
Miyasaka Brewery is also renowned for their sake and will serve their prize-winning "Masumi" during dinner.
Mr. Watanabe's program includes Mozart, Debussy, Puccini and Kosaku Yamada. Join us for an eclectic evening of oboe music and "symphonically inspired" miso cuisine.
