IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!

Time: 2009 Aug 22 18:30 - 21:00
Summary:

Paul Williams
Traditional and Contemporary Songs
from Ireland, Scotland and Wales

Description:

A native of Cardiff, Wales, Paul has been playing professionally for more than 25 years and is equally at home on guitar, mandolin and bouzouki. During a seven-year sojourn in Hawaii, Paul played mandolin in the popular Americana 6-piece 'The Lost Pelican Band.'' He performed with Hawaiian music legend Liko Martin and was a guest artist on his "Surf and Bay Blues" CD, and he was one-half of the eclectic 'Mahalo Brothers'' with inspirational world music singer-songwriter Jivan.

Celtic folk music has been Paul's main solo act for the last six years. Since 2007 he has been performing regularly at Irish pubs in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima. He also plays mandolin in the Tokyo-based 5-piece Irish Folk band "Mutiny." Among his many CDs are "Live on KKCR" (2006), "Live'n Kickin' At Da Caffe" with Bill Dick on fiddle (2006), and "Hawairish Nights" (2009), a compilation of live and studio recordings made in Hawaii.

Music from the Emerald Isle and nearby regions is the perfect antidote for the dog days of a Tokyo summer. So come on down to the FCCJ for Paul Williams' Saturday Night Live!
