PROFESSIONAL LUNCHEON
Toshio Tamogami,
Former Air Self-Defense Force Chief of Staff
The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English interpretation.
Description:What an eleven months it's been for Toshio Tamogami. Dismissed in late October last year after he published an essay arguing that Japan wasn't an aggressor in World War II, the former air force chief has gone on to make a series of high-profile speeches that have proved almost as controversial. Most recently he labeled most attendees of the August 6 peace ceremony in Hiroshima as "left-wingers."
With a new government in power and with Prime Minister Hatoyama currently on his first visit to the U.S., the deal on U.S. Forces in Japan and the nation's place in Asia looks set to change.
At the FCCJ on September 28 Tamogami will present his views on what the new Democratic government should be asking from the U.S. and his own nation's military future. He will also be taking your questions.
