Description:

J'ouvert – Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago (Main Bar)
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is located in the southern Caribbean. Its population is estimated at 1.3 million and the country covers an area of 5,128 square kilometers. J'ouvert, a contraction of the French "jour ouvert," or "open day," is a huge street party during the annual carnival celebration. The origins of J'ouvert go back to the country's emancipation from slavery in 1838. Some say J'ouvert is connected with the civil disturbances in Port of Spain, Trinidad at the time. Revelers now cover their skin with mud and paint in remembrance of when slaves hid behind such coverings for fear of being identified as they celebrated carnival.
LPGA tour 2009 – Ladies Professional Golf Tournament (Sushi Bar)
The 2009 LPGA Tour featured the worlds most talented female golfers competing in 28 events throughout 10 countries for official prize money totaling nearly $50 million. Of the more than 460 LPGA Tour members, approximately 230 are active competitors throughout the season.
Shizuka Minami
I was born in Tokyo in 1979. In 2005 I completed the International Center of Photography's Program in Documentary and Photojournalism (NYC, US), and in 2008 I became a member of the PHaT Photo agency. My work has appeared in Sports Illustrated and Number magazines among other publications.
I am passionate about sports events, music concerts, festivals and carnivals. Full of energy and the intensity of human emotion, these events captivate and inspire me to click the shutter. Photography is my excuse to be in the middle of the action.
