Exclusive Winemaker’s Dinner for 40 Connoisseurs
Summary:
Legendary Winemaker Ed Sbragia
Description:Ed Sbragia needs little introduction to wine lovers at the FCCJ.
The only winemaker to have the twice been honored with Wine Spectator’s top Wine of The Year award for Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay 1994 in 1996 and Cabernet Sauvignon 1986 in 1990.
The acclaimed Winemaker Emeritus of Beringer is now devoting his formidable talents to the Sbragia Family Vineyards.
Sbragia is a rare blend of technical mastery and sixth sense artistry, enhanced, no doubt, through his tutelage under the legendary Myron Nightingale, whom Sbragia remembers as one of the most intuitive winemakers he ever met.
Sbragia's pursuit of the finest grapes has been upped a notch at the Family Vineyards, with their oft-quoted commitment to the single vineyard. Many of the grapes are still lovingly grown on the same vineyards which have been in the family for generations.
'Follow the grapes,' he reminds us....and it's most evident in the wonderful award-winning wines he'll be bringing to the club. They would have certainly made his grandfather from Tuscany proud.
We'll start with the Home Ranch Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2008 and Chardonnay 2007 (Wine Spectator 92 point), onto his fine Gino’s Vineyard Dry Creek Zinfadel 2006 and Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (Robert Parker 93 point). We also have high hopes that he'll be bringing a rare treat or two just for the lucky guests on the evening.
Sbragia is a legend at making the finest wines to enjoy food with. Executive Chef Dodd will respond with the perfect culinary match for every unforgettable sip.
Don't miss it.
