IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!

Time: 2010 Sep 04 18:30 - 21:00
Summary:

Celtic Wind
Irish, Scottish and Welsh Folk Music

Description:

Celtic Wind is folk music duo comprising Paul Williams singing and playing guitar and bouzouki, and flutist Yuko Hamamoto. They formed Celtic Wind a year ago and quickly become favorites Irish pubs and cafes through the greater Tokyo area. Their repertoire, naturally, focuses on songs and tunes old and new from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

A native of Cardiff, Wales, Paul Williams has been performing live for more than 30 years. Fans of Irish music may recognize him as the mandolinist in the Tokyo-based band Mutiny. Before moving to Tokyo in 2006, Paul had lived and performed in Hawaii and Hiroshima. Yuko Hamamoto hails from Tochigi, where she started playing the piano at 4 and the flute at 8. She trained in classical flute at Musashino Academia Musicae and now teaches and performs professionally both as a soloist and in ensembles at venues throughout the Kanto region. Her musical interests extend beyond the classics to traditional Japanese, jazz, Hawaiian, tango, and, of course, Irish.

Celtic Wind provides the airs you need to cool off on a late summer's evening.
