IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!
Summary:
Rie Furuse & Philip Woo
Smooth Jazz, Fusion, Pops
Paris-based vocalist Rie Furuse is returning to the FCCJ with the world famous pianist, Philip Woo, for your entertainment pleasure!
Let's celebrate the beginning of summer with some stylish tunes performed by this talented duo! You will be entertained not only with Jazz but with Fusion, Pops and Latin numbers too.
Rie has sung with world-class artists such as the renowned vocalist Janis Siegel from Manhattan Transfer, Philip Woo (pf), Tommy Campbell (ds), Patience Higgins (sax, fl), Abe Lagrimas Jr. (ukulele, ds) and Chris Mosdell (lyricist for Sarah Brightman and Eric Clapton) to name just a few. She underwent voice training with the renowned vocalist Diva Gray (a former member of Chic), so her vocal style is definitively distinctive compared to other native Japanese vocalists.
In 2009 she moved to Paris and is getting well established on the world stage. In 2007 she had a successful tour in Hawaii and was featured in interviews by various Hawaiian media including the "Star-Bulletin" newspaper. She continues her career in Paris to further her global exposure.
Philip Woo is based in Tokyo. He has toured and recorded with world-famous musicians such as Roberta Flack, Whitney Houston, Kenny G, Grover Washington Jr, Cyndi Lauper, and many more. He has appeared on TV with Stevie Wonder, BB King, Curtis Mayfield, James Ingram, Brandy, Nancy Wilson, Al Jarreau etc. In Japan, Philip is a longtime member of Toshinobu Kubota's band.
You'll be amazed by this duo session.
