PRESS CONFERENCE

"Appeal to end the abuse of human rights in North Korea"

Language:

The speech and Q& A will be in Japanese with English interpretation.

Description:

North Korea is rarely out of the news and it's easy to grow tired of the persistently gloomy stories coming out of the country. But those involved in trying to change the North and how people think of it insist that the story should never be out of the headlines. The truth is, they say, usually worse than the media reports.

Representatives from three groups dealing with the North Korean problem will speak at the Club on Feb. 15 to bring reporters up to date on three important issues related to the North: how Kim Jong Il launders money using Western banks and why he recently moved his account; the horror of the North's concentration camps; and the continuing search for the truth related to those kidnapped by the North.

The speakers are: Kazuhiro Araki, Representative, Investigation Commission on Missing Japanese Probably Related to North Korea; Ken Kato, Human Rights Activist; and Syojun Sunagawa, Joint Representative, NO FENCE.
