Kenji Goto & Koh Watase, "Stop Child Pornography"
Summary:
Press Conference
Keiji Goto, Lawyer and Head of the Forum Against Child Pornography
Koh Watase, Lawyer and Member of the Organization
The speech and Q & A will be in Japanese with English interpretation
Description:The proliferation of child pornography in Japan and abroad is a matter of serious concern to parents and guardians around the world.
Keiji Goto represents a group that is dedicated to creating a society in which child pornography is not tolerated and also serves as support attorney for the Stop Child Prostitution Association. Koh Watase is a member of the forum.
While working for the National Police Agency, Goto worked closely with nongovernmental organizations to fight child pornography, child prostitution and trafficking in children.
Their efforts led to the enactment of the Prohibition of Child Prostitution and Pornography Act. But Goto, Watase and other lawyers and like-minded members of the NGO believe Japan is facing an uphill battle to stamp out child pornography.
Alarmed by criticism at home and abroad for having long tolerated child pornography on the Internet, the Japanese government is belatedly considering asking Internet service providers to block users' access to sites featuring child pornography. The NPA is also cooperating with foreign investigative authorities to stem the spread of child pornography.
Goto and Watase will come to the club to provide an update on the issue and to explain how their anti-child pornography campaign is faring.
