PRESS CONFERENCE
Anime's Rise as a Global Business
Tetsu Fujimura, CEO, Filosophia Inc.
Douglas Montgomery, CEO Global Connects Media

14:00-15:00 Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Language: The speech and Q & A will be in English.

In an era when Japan's soft power seems ascendant in fields from cuisine to clothing fashion, the global influence of anime still stands out. Anime has only continued to grow in importance, turning from a pop culture phenomenon into a major industry that generated $21.9 billion in worldwide sales in 2024. As demand for live-action adaptations has soared, anime now drives strategy at big streaming platforms like Netflix.

To explain anime's rise as both a global force in business as well as entertainment, the FCCJ will host two experts in the field.

Tetsu Fujimura is the founder and CEO of Filosophia Inc. who specializes in bridging the gap between Japan and Hollywood, including by serving as executive producer in the live-action series based on the “One Piece” anime franchise. Douglas Montgomery is the CEO of Global Connects Media with more than two decades of experience in the entertainment industry, including at Warner Bros. He co-founded "Global Stage Hollywood" and is a regular contributor to Nikkei Asia, The Strait Times, The Japan Times and others.

Please join us for an inside look at anime's rise as a powerhouse in the global entertainment industry.
