A Memorial for Anthony Rowley
6:30pm - 8:00pm, Friday, October 9, 2026
The FCCJ will hold a memorial event for club stalwart Anthony Rowley this Friday, October 9, from 6:30pm –
8pm.
Anthony joined the FCCJ in 1990 and over his many years of membership dedicated himself to the Board of
Directors in stints as Club president, vice president, treasurer, and most recently, kanji (auditor). He brought
integrity, dedication, and a deep love for this Club, its membership, and of course, its staff, to this pursuit.
Anthony was formerly the Business Editor and International Finance Editor at the Far Eastern Economic Review
and Tokyo Correspondent for the Singapore Business Times, among numerous other positions. In recent years,
he was the driving force behind the FCCJ’s long-running Deep Dive series and a frequent contributor to the No.
1 Shimbun. It speaks volumes to Anthony’s work ethic that the October issue of the No. 1 Shimbun includes an
article he submitted to the editor in September. You can read what are perhaps his last public words here.
Please make your reservation as soon as possible at Reception 03-3211-3161 or front@fccj.or.jp so that the Club
can make the appropriate preparations. The fee is 1,100 yen (including snacks and one drink), and bar service
will be available. Non-members, including former members, can pay at Reception for admission and additional
drinks.
If you can't make it in person, please join the tribute remotely:
