It's Saturday Nite Live!
Celtic Culture with Morgan Paul Williams
18:30 - 21:00, January 25, 2025

Discover and celebrate Celtic culture and two ancient festivals with SNL's long-time Cardiffian performer of traditional Welsh, English, Irish and Scottish music, Morgan Paul Williams.

The early part of each year sees two honoured dates in the ancient Celtic calendar: the "Welsh St Valentine's Day", better known as St Dwynwen's Day, on January 25; and the Spring festival of Imbolc, also known as St Brigit's Day, traditionally celebrated as a feast day for the patroness Irish saint on February 1. Imbolc is when the first "cracking of the seed" of the upcoming season is done. Its element is fire and its theme is the return of the light, bringing merrymaking and good cheer in its wake-Gaelic style!

Morgan Paul Williams is a veteran performer and musician from Cardiff, Wales and longtime Japan resident, now based in Chigasaki on the Kanagawa coast. He has a large repertoire of Celtic Folk songs traditional and contemporary, from the Celtic lands of the UK. Among other musical genres, he also performs 1960s and 1970s classics and is always happy to take requests. He's been a regular performer at FCCJ for close on 20 years.
