FCCJ Deep Dive Series 2021
Covid-19 and Global Mental Health Impact–
latest findings from the OECD (Session 2)
18:00-19:30, Wednesday, May 26, 2021
(The speech and Q&A will be in English)

The FCCJ's Deep Dive series offers in-depth perspectives from leading experts on key business and social issues.

In the second session on mental health issues related to COVID-19, our speakers will focus on emerging data from across OECD countries and analyse the impact of the virus on the workplace, employment and welfare policies, including job loss and the increase in teleworking. The discussion will also review the cost of mental health not only for the individual, but also for society at large with an emphasis on policy support for populations and timelier access to treatment.

The speakers will draw on the OECD policy brief on the COVID-19 crisis, which examines the prevalence of symptoms of depression and anxiety, response among countries and data on ongoing steps implemented to combat an increase in mental health issues. The brief also outlines some key considerations for an integrated whole-of-society policy response and the impact of the pandemic on young people’s mental health, focusing on workplace and employment policies.

The panelists are:

  • Dr. Christopher Prinz, Senior Policy Analyst, Skills and Employability Division, Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs, OECD.
  • Mr. Shunta Takino, Junior Counsellor, Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs, OECD
